Lianne la Havas has released the third single from her highly-anticipated new album, Blood.
The record, which is a compilation of tracks inspired by her Jamaican/Greek heritage, is set for release this coming Friday (31st). Over the past few weeks, La Havas has given us a glimpse into the album’s overarching style, with singles ‘What you Don’t Do’ and ‘Unstoppable’. It appears she has developed a more mature sound with songs feeling a tad more upbeat than her debut offering, ‘Is Your Love Big Enough’ – a record that was inspired by heartbreak and her romantic experiences.
Her sophomore collection of tracks explores notions of identity and belonging – a narrative of heritage. La Havas told the BBC:
“I went to Jamaica to write. Kingston is one of the coolest cities and when I was there, I felt super-badass. I went New York next and I had the words ‘green and gold’ in my head. I loved the imagery of it and then it seemed to develop into where I was from and I thought of a lyric to represent Greece which was ‘ancient stone’. So the chorus was written before the verses. And then I called Matt Hales (of Aqualung) because it was just a vibe with a chorus and he really liked it”
Fans of the ‘unstoppable’ Londoner can pre-order Blood now
La Havas will be stopping off in Dublin on December 3rd, tickets available HERE!
