What’s the name? Aine Cahill
Where’s she from? Cavan, Ireland
Who does she sound like? Lana del Rey and Lykke Li
New girl on the Irish music block, Aine Cahill, immediately caught our attention after a performance on Today FM, this morning. Originally from Co Cavan, Cahill mixes powerful pipes, evocative lyricism, and undertones of Lana del Rey’s lethargic-like vocals. We’re loving her new track, Black Dahlia – inspired by the infamous Hollywood murders. We’re also loving her funky and fabulous hats!
So Aine, where do you see yourself in five years?
“Well, to be honest, I don’t know where I’ll be! Five years is a long time, I don’t know where I’ll be in four months! I would hope to be working in the music industry and making music for a living. I look forward to hard work.”
Where did it all start for you?
“Well, I started writing music in 2013. I don’t really have a musical background, I took an interest in it and developed a passion for it when I was 15. I’m a self-taught piano player – all done by ear and YouTube.”
Who do you cite as your musical idols?
“Musical Idols are definitely Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Marina and the Diamonds. They are hard working female artists, all of which write their own material, so they are an inspiration for me. I would compare myself to these ladies also, not so much Gaga but the Lana and Marina influences are really present in my music and songwriting.”
Check out her stunning new track, Balck Dahlia below. Nitelife would like to wish Aine ‘Mad Hatter’ Cahill the very best of luck. Don’t forget us when you hit the big time 🙂
