Olly Murs has confirmed his resignation from The X Factor after just one year. He declared, “My heart belongs to music,” and he wants to concentrate on his work as an artist. The Essex boy originally took the hosting role from Dermot O’Leary.
The news broke after Nick Grimshaw quit the show, and Caroline Flack was axed. His decision came about when he failed to impress the viewers on last year’s series.
Murs’ rep told The Sun: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make and one [Olly] didn’t take lightly as [he’s] really enjoyed co-hosting The X Factor. It’s been one big adventure and [Olly] has loved every minute of it…[Olly] wants to concentrate 100 per cent on making the next album and getting back to performing.”
Simon told The Sun, “It was fantastic having Olly on The X Factor last year and now this year he has to concentrate on his new album. In addition to this we have agreed to work on some other TV projects in the future.”
