The Official Charts Company have reveal the highest-selling albums of the year so far.The Top 40 list counts down the biggest selling albums of 2015 to date, with Sam Smith‘s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ taking top spot. Released in 2014, the album has sold 501,000 copies in the last six months and recently broke a chart record after spending one whole year in the Official Chart top five.

Ed Sheeran comes runner-up in the list, with ‘x’ (470,000 combined sales). ‘Wanted On Voyage’ by George Ezra takes third place (345,000) while albums by Taylor Swift and Hozier round off the top five. Every album in the top five was originally released in 2014.

It is not until Number Six, James Bay’s ‘Chaos and The Calm’, that an album released this year figures in the sales list. Noel Gallagher’s ‘Chasing Yesterday’, also released in 2015, is at Number Six.
