Today, MCD reminded us (via Twitter) that Marina and the Diamonds will play the Academy, Dublin, on December 2nd.

The FROOT singer will stop off at Glasgow, Belfast, London and other UK cities on her Neon Nature tour; kicking off in Cambridge (20th November) and finishing in London (6th December).

The Primadonna Girl, Marina Lambrini Diamandis, seems to have been flying slightly under the radar in recent years, never really mimicking the success of the acclaimed Electra Heart in 2012.

However, Diamandis seems to be happier touring with this record, letting go of her Electra Heart alter-ego: “I can’t imagine in a million years putting that wig again… it was a one-time thing. I do miss it sometimes; it was such fun…but you know what? I don’t think I could ever do it again.”

She also spoke of how content she now feels: “It was almost like I had been burdened by something my whole life and then suddenly that went away…” she says. “I can’t even describe how amazing it is… you suddenly realise why people are happy and why people enjoy things.

She continues: “I think I used to believe that being depressed was part of my personality or that I was born like that, but it’s quite shocking to realise that perhaps that isn’t the case…Maybe I was ready to change. Maybe I was ready to leave a lot of things I’d held onto in the past behind. I don’t know if that happens to other people when they hit a certain age or maybe some people don’t even have those issues to begin with. Perhaps it’s not very common, but I know that it was important for my future.”

Tickets for the show go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets & online at, €27.90 inclusive of booking fee. It’s an over 18’s gig and I.D will be required.
