How and when did Native Talk get together?

Well, the band started as a side project and has since further progressed into something of its own, ‘Native Talk’ is an alternative indie project and is something in which we try to let people relate too, whether it’s the music or the sound almost take the listeners view and try to picture how they see it.

What is the story behind the bands name?

Through Lots of deliberation and ideas thrown out, we were stuck on a few we liked and lots we didn’t, but concluded on something that sounded different and felt related to the type of genre we wanted to play, the songs we want to write we wanted to sound like ‘native talk’ to the listeners hence the name ‘Native Talk’.

Who or what are your influences?

We try to base our music on a mixture of genres but we keep on the same theme, songs that  listeners can relate to. Bands like The Academic, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975 and The Coronas would be great examples and a few local bands around our area such as Black Tie Event and Litehouse. Seem to grasp the concept of listener engagement, keeping with the indie contemporary feel.
How has your music evolved since the band began?
Our music has changed direction in the sense that it’s a lot more relatable to the listeners and has a feel for the more contemporary music we hear today but with a touch of the ‘Native Talk’ indie-ness pop-ability.
Can you briefly describe the music-making process for the band?
The songwriting process is very organic, starting off with a few chords matched with lyrics, figure out a structure and go from there, a rough demo is then created to reproduce the sound we want for the song.

Where can someone view your music?

We will be on all streaming websites from Spotify to Soundcloud also stay tuned into the Facebook for updates, ‘Native Talk’ Is never too far away.

Do you have any advice for fellow bands?

Try to play as often as possible no matter where is it, get your original stuff out there and try to be heard, and eventually you will.

What are the band’s plans for the rest of 2016?

Summer 2016 we are excited to announce a debut single entitled ‘Hangover’ to be released in due course on Spotify and iTunes stay tuned for updates, and also try to establish a name for ourselves and just to enjoy it!
