Laughter returns to the Róisín Dubh, with your host for the evening, Steve Bennett. Stevie will be welcoming some of the finest names in comedy this 11th of December, including: Tom O’Mahony, Alan Hurley and Danny Ryan. The laughs will come thick and fast once the show kicks off at 9 pm (doors open at 8:30 pm). Tom O’Mahony is an ex-MMA fighter who claims his interests include “baytins and talking about baytins”. He has received praise from entertainment.ie and the one and only legend Rik Mayall! His performance at the Róisín is not to be missed. Tickets are €8 from Roisindubh.net. Also this Friday, December 11th, brought to you by Monroe’s Live, Galway, The Shades are bringing their high-energy rock n’ roll to another eager audience. The Shades are a five piece rhythm ‘n’ blues / rock n’ roll group from Dublin. Made up of five hardworking, accomplished musicians and taking inspiration from artists such as: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Chuck Berry and The Yardbirds, The Shades are on their way to bringing this raw rock n’ roll sound to the mainstream. On December 12th, across the island in Dublin, The Smiths Indeed will play The Button Factory, with doors opening at 7:30 pm. A stunning tribute to The Smiths, the show is sure to be a trip down memory lane for some and a chance to hear The Smiths’ amazing songs in a live setting for those of us too young to have seen them in the mid ‘80s. Hear classics such as How Soon Is Now, The Queen Is Dead and Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now. Tickets are €20, a bargain rate for such a brilliant night out.

In the Olympia Theatre, (that very same Saturday), Jimmy Carr brings his signature laugh and dark one-liners to Dublin. You’ve seen him on QI, Big Fat Quiz of The Year and 8 Out of 10 Cats as well as numerous other panel shows and stand-up shows, so you should already know he’s a truly one-of-a-kind act. His edgy humour leaves some scratching their heads, but we are among the enlightened, and recognise him for the talent that he is. Tickets are going for €36.50, doors open at 7 pm, you don’t want to miss this.
Monday (14th), 7 pm @ The Academy
And finally, Monday the 14th of December, Bob Marley’s legendary backing band The Wailers are bringing the finest reggae tunes under the sun to The Academy, Dublin. A moving tribute to the late masters of reggae Peter Tosh and Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer leads The Wailers all over the globe to bring their message of peace, love and unity to the people through their outstanding back catalogue including the hits: No Woman, No Cry, Stir It Up and Jamming. It promises to be a night of beautiful music and smooth dance moves. Tickets are €32.50 and the doors open at 7 pm.
