If the New Year blues are setting in and you’re only itching for a romping, stomping good time then three talented Irish singer/songwriters have just the remedy – the Back to Basics Tour. Monaghan-born belter Barry Jay Hughes and Dublin dudes Greg Clifford and Ian N. Brennan are set to take the country by storm with a three-act-showcase this coming February. The tour kicks off on February 17th at Boyle’s of Slane and concludes at Dublin’s Grand Social on March 11th (pre-book those tickets here) with a whole pile of your favourite haunts in between. Yes, Barry, Ian, and Greg are coming to serenade fans up and down the country from Roscommon to Cork and a few stops in the interim, with a whopping 15 dates in total. Sure they’ll be wrecked after all that jammin’! The aesthetic of the tour promises to take us back to ‘basics’ with a D.I.Y / independent feel. In a world and industry steeped in clutter and superfluity, Brennan, Clifford and Hughes will opt for acoustic performances that focus on intimacy, honesty and purity. Well that sounds right up our street.

Greg Clifford

In April, Greg will release his new nine-track studio album, ‘Quodlibet’. Greg tracked it last year in London and is very keen to release. Two tracks have already been presented to the public and have been received very well by all accounts. “I think it’s my strongest work to date and I’m generally very excited by the prospects that lay ahead in 2017.” – Greg Clifford. Ian N. Brennan

Ian is currently recording his debut album which is set for release at the end of the summer, and will be supporting Mary Coughlan later in the year, as well a few of his very own headline gigs. Follow all of Ian’s shenanigans over on Facebook.

Quickly becoming known as one of hardest working singer/songwriters in the industry at the moment, Barry Jay says he is “delighted to be sinking [my] teeth into such a challenging project as the Back to Basics Tour”. With two studio E.P records to his name Hughes is now setting his sights on a debut album. However, this year, Sweden, Poland, and the UK are beckoning so he’s going to focus on that – for now. Check out Barry on Facebook. Also, how feckin’ cool is that E.P cover (above).
