The spirit of 17-year-old gorilla Harambe has lived on mightily, even months after his tragic death at a Cincinnati Zoo in May. He’s been remembered via countless memes, hats and t-shirts, and even his own memorial. The music world has shown a kind heart to the great ape, too. CHVRCHES recently dedicated a song to him live, and now, it appears two music festivals have “added” Harambe to their lineups.
Day For Night, which takes place in Houston on December 17th and 18th, will feature “a hologram of Haramble” during its festival weekend. He’ll be sharing a bill alongside the likes of Aphex Twin, Run the Jewels, John Carpenter, and Thundercat — a very cool honor considering only huge iconic musicians (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston) have been turned into holograms.
The second festival to memorialize Harambe is the Fat Jew IRL Festival, spearheaded by internet memester Fat Jew. In an announcement yesterday, he said that “the ghost of Harambe” will be appear as a guest DJ.
As long as no one says “dicks out for Harambe” at either of these events, I’d be game. Long live Harambe!
