MEGAN AND THE COMMON THREADS
_ Main Venue _
Megan And The Common Threads weave a unique tapestry of country, blues, folk, funk & rock’n’roll.
Growing from the solo project of Irish front-woman Megan O’Neill, who creates an infectious onstage energy with harmonising co-writers Dan Clark and Tom Smith (electric & acoustic guitars), their catchy but insightful songwriting underpins danceable grooves from Kesh Kanabar (bass) and Alessandro Tibaldi (drums), with Mairéad Furlong’s Irish fiddle flourishing at the heart of their distinctive Celt-icana sound.
Live shows have included a special Oscars Week appearance in LA (2015), a sold-out Whelan’s show in 2015 and three slots at C2C festival at the 02 in London as well as performances for RTE2, Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2), BBC Ulster, BBC London, Irish Independent, Windmill Lane Sessions, Amazing Radio and the Breakfast show (Today FM) with Ian Dempsey.
2016 has already seen two acclaimed shows at C2C Country to Country Festival at London’s 02 Arena, and a barnstorming performance to a sold out 700 capacity crowd at Time Out London’s Rising Stars of Country show. Megan has a release this year with Ben Earle of The Shires through Decca Records and The Common Threads are on tour in October with CC Smugglers across the UK. They’re back in Ireland for a few exclusive shows in November only.Their next EP is due for release in January 2017.
