Megan And The Common Threads weave a unique tapestry of country, blues, folk, funk & rock’n’roll.

Growing from the solo project of Irish front-woman Megan O’Neill, who creates an infectious onstage energy with harmonising co-writers Dan Clark and Tom Smith (electric & acoustic guitars), their catchy but insightful songwriting underpins danceable grooves from Kesh Kanabar (bass) and Alessandro Tibaldi (drums), with Mairéad Furlong’s Irish fiddle flourishing at the heart of their distinctive Celt-icana sound.

Hit US TV show Nashville (ABC/Lionsgate) featured Megan’s track Don’t You from her debut EP; Coming Home which was named UK EP of the Year by public vote at the W21 Music Awards.

Live shows have included a special Oscars Week appearance in LA (2015), a sold-out Whelan’s show in 2015 and three slots at C2C festival at the 02 in London as well as performances for RTE2, Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2), BBC Ulster, BBC London, Irish Independent, Windmill Lane Sessions, Amazing Radio and the Breakfast show (Today FM) with Ian Dempsey.

2016 has already seen two acclaimed shows at C2C Country to Country Festival at London’s 02 Arena, and a barnstorming performance to a sold out 700 capacity crowd at Time Out London’s Rising Stars of Country show. Megan has a release this year with Ben Earle of The Shires through Decca Records and The Common Threads are on tour in October with CC Smugglers across the UK. They’re back in Ireland for a few exclusive shows in November only.Their next EP is due for release in January 2017. This will be the studio debut of the full band produced at Mark Knopfler’sstudio in London by Guy Fletcher of Dire Straits.

The Debut Single, ‘We Met At A Party’

‘A killer pop tune that’s going to be all over radio like a rash.” – Stuart Clark, Hot Press

Few songs scream “summer!” as loudly as ‘We Met At A Party’, the debut single from Dublin duo Apella, which is all infectious Beach Boys melodies one moment, Blink-182 pop-punk boisterousness the next.

Hitting radio on July XX with an official release to follow August 12th, ‘We Met At A Party’ is a serious declaration of intent from singer/multi-instrumentalist Dara Quilty and drummer Ronan Nolan who’ve previously shared a stage with the A-List likes of Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, Twenty One Pilots, Paramore, 30 Seconds To Mars, Scouting For Girls and Bon Jovi.

It’s no wonder then that Apella arrive fully formed and ready to win musical hearts and minds.

Clocking in at 2mins 33secs, ‘We Met A Party’ has the classic ‘Teenage Kicks’ thing of you wanting to hit the ‘repeat’ button as soon as it finishes. That type of smart, sassy writing is repeated throughout its parent album which showcases Quilty’s mature new sound, and gets a live preview in August when Apella head out on tour.

Judging by the two low-key warm-ups they’ve already played, it’s going to be a blast!

“We supported Twenty One Pilots earlier this year in Dublin and Belfast. Not knowing who we were I thought everybody would head to the bar but, no, they were dancing and punching the air the second we hit the stage. We can’t wait for everybody to see our live show.”

‘We Met At a Party’ has already achieved viral hit status on YouTube with a whopping 15.3 million plays and rising!

“How exactly I’m not sure, but an early version of the song found its way onto the soundtrack of the Road Bike Party 2 video, which has been watched by silly numbers of people,” Dara concludes. “It’s things like that which make it such an exciting time to be making music!”

Without stopping to draw breath Dublin’s finest proponents of short, sharp grunge pop outbursts – Otherkin follow their triumphant appearance at Electric Picnic by announcing a headline show at Whelan’s Dublin on Friday 11th November 2016.

Summer 2016 has seen the band wear out their passports and run up the air miles with European festival appearances in France, Austria, Holland, Germany, Czech Republic and no less than seven UK festival shows. Closer to home they were invited to open for Red Hot Chili Peppers at Tennent’s Vital in Belfast. Stage invasions and long distance forays into the crowd for singer Luke Reilly continue to be a hallmark of their riotous sets with The Guardian picking them as one of their overall festival highlights from Reading and Leeds.

Their growing live following is testament to the string of killer tracks the band have dropped over the last year. Initial stand out AY AY was followed quickly with FEEL IT – both gaining traction with BBC Radio 1 and MTV Rocks and securing the band a prestigious Other Voices slot. With the release of The New Vice EP high profile support continued from the likes of Annie Mac, Clara Amfo and Phil Taggart. As Otherkin count down towards the release of their debut album in 2017 it’s worth betting that this will be the last chance to see them in a room this size for some time.

Praise for Otherkin

“It’s not all about the bigger names, though, and two of the best sets come from relative unknowns. Blistering Dublin garage punks Otherkin play … as if it is Madison Square Garden.” – The Guardian

“On Friday the sun decides to make a rare appearance, just in time for Dublin four-piece Otherkin who storm the tiny stage at the Prince Albert like wildling extras from Game of Thrones. Frontman Luke Reilly has his shirt off in the first 10 seconds, and considering it’s 1.30pm they do a superb job of blasting away any cobwebs from the night before.” – The Independent

“Irish rockers Otherkin were another highlight. The band had only arrived off the ferry from Dublin the same morning, but provided a ferocious show with shirtless singer Luke Reilly constantly singing their infectious Catfish and The Bottlemen-style anthems from among the crowd.” – NME
