The Workman’s Club will welcome Eoin Glacken with Special Guest, Rachael Sage, on November 19th @ 8 pm.

If you haven’t heard the name, check this guy out. Why? Because Ed Sheeran tweeted, “Keep writing and keep smashing it’”; The Irish Indo wrote, “His songs make an instant connection with fans”; and Damo Dempsey thinks, “Eoin’s lyrical imagery makes me feel like I’m watching a movie in my mind.” Prett decent accolades eh!

Eoin is currently touring the UK and Europe with his eponymous second album, recently released through IRL Records. The album was produced by the highly regarded Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers, The Clash, Beth Orton), who was one of the first in-the-know folks to pick up on Eoin’s talent. At the very heart of the album are Eoin’s finely crafted verses which showcase his unique ability to convert stories in to accessible songs. Acerbic wit and everyday wisdom on the vagaries of life and love also play their part in this LP, which stands testament to the skill of a refined narrator who is exciting music fans and press alike. The album also features a collaboration with the brilliant Gavin Glass.

Counting Dylan, Springsteen and Kris Kristofferson among this heroes, Eoin entwines flavours of Americana with a pop sensibility and an unmistakable Irish touch. Dealing with themes of dislocation, isolation, fear and ultimately hope, Glackin’s music is singularly keen and instantly relatable.

Glackin’s fierce imagination and steely drive saw him quickly reel in the attention of some influential industry players, and following his highly acclaimed debut home release on Sony Ireland, he went on to support Joan Armatrading, Shovels & Rope, Beth Orton and The Darkness. His music has earned him some strong airplay on Irish national airwaves and he has performed at festivals such asElectric Picnic, Sea Sessions, Sligo Live and Celtic Connections, to name a few.  Eoin is often described as possessing wisdom beyond his years and this album delivers insightful, thought-provoking songs delivered with boyish charm, Irish wit and an unparalleled knack for storytelling.

Joining Eoin on the night is the soulful vocalist and innovative multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer Rachael Sage. Rachel is one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 100+ dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. She has earned a loyal following for her dynamic piano playing, delicate guitar work, vocals and improvisational audience interaction.
