28-year-old co-founder of Grooveshark, Josh Greenberg, was found dead in his Florida home on Sunday (19th July). Greenberg, who was the co-creator of the music-streaming service, was found dead by his girlfriend, Abby Mayer, in their bedroom on Sunday evening.
Lori Greenberg, the deceased’s mother, said there was no foul-play suspected and no evidence of drugs or alcohol at the scene – according to police. She also explained that the medical examiner’s reports found no sure cause of death; the autopsy took place yesterday with toxicology reports due to be released within two-three months.
“They are as baffled as I am,” she said.
Greenberg, who was the company’s Chief Technology Officer, founded the organisation with Sam Tarantino in 2006; the pair were freshman at the University of Florida together.
Reports suggest that Grooveshark had over 40 million users and 145 employees in between its New York City and Gainsville offices.
