Jon Boden’s debut solo album ‘Painted Lady’ will be re-issued by Navigator Records on September 30th, marking the 10th anniversary of its original release by Soundpost Records in 2006. The new issue will be completed with bonus tracks “All Hang Down”, “Old Brown’s Daughter” and a cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Want To Dance With Somebody”. The record will be available as a CD, 180gm vinyl and as a download.

Boden is probably still best known as the lead singer and the main arranger of eleven-piece folk act Bellowhead, but has enjoyed a quietly varied career, composing for theatre and film and winning 11 BBC Radio 2 Folk awards, more than any other musician. Although Boden’s first instrument is the fiddle and he is an advocate of “English traditional fiddle-style”, he can play a hugely impressive number of instruments, including the concertina, octave fiddle, banjo, guitars, double bass, Indian harmonium, glockenspiel, electric piano, Moog synthesizer and drum machine.

Incidentally, all of the above instruments feature on ‘The Painted Lady’, and all of them are played by Boden himself. Boden will be going on his first major solo tour in November this year, following the re-issue of ‘The Painted Lady’ on September 30th.
