Throws (Mike & Sam from Tunng), share new track and debut self-titled album released on 10th June 2016 on Full Time Hobby.
Throws are a duo who are old friends and collaborators catching up on each other’s lives and creating ideas on music once they reconnected.
“The whole month became a cathartic party. We talked about the challenges we were facing in life. We walked by the sea and along the city’s small streets to crowded bars and cafes. We drank, laughed a lot, and danced like madmen on moonshine whilst recording whatever ideas came to us without any responsibilities other than making music, eating, and sleeping,” tells Mike.
The result is something no-one, would have expected, and Sam’s vocal habits opened some new doors. “One lunchtime on the second day we opened a beer to get us in the Flow, then Sam started singing in this high-pitched falsetto Northern soul warble… it was like “that’s it! That’s the sound!” From that point on we found a flavour and vice for whatever this project was going to be,” tells Mike.
“To make music in a place like Iceland will always leave you feeling refreshed and powerful… it’s just in the air,” Sam says.
“It feels right; like the past, the present, and the future. Besides, we like one-word names beginning with T!” tells Mike about the name, Throws.
Throws are about being connected to your life, surroundings, friendships and rekindling the magic. Their music includes the twists and turns within a relationship. They try to stay in the moment, living with a passion, no matter what.
“If you accept the reality of life and the people you share it with then there are great big adventures to be had,” Sam concludes.
