Hailing from Finland, Mikko Joensuu’s album Amen 1 will be released on June 10th via Svart.

The new track ‘Warning Sign,’ was premiered on the Line of Best Fit.

The Best Fit described Joensuu’s poignant and raw new track as having “vulnerability in his music, a crack into which seeps doubt, loneliness and a questioning of higher powers.”

‘Amen 1’ is the first in a trilogy of a triple album concept. The two upcoming albums are due to be released late 2016 and early 2017. It digs into American traditional folk music; dealing with deep, meaningful and healing themes.

Joensuu’s comment about the first part, “perhaps the most fragile. It’s an effort to find balance between great sadness and beauty, and to understand the very strange state when one’s mind is close to collapse and yet at the same time more alive than ever.”

“In the summer of 2012 I built a studio in a small cabin by a lake in northern Finland. I spent a month staring towards the lake, writing and recording. During that time I realized what I had was actually three different albums, all stemming from the same state of mind, expressing various sides to the same story. From the three, Amen 1 is perhaps the most fragile. It’s an effort to find balance between great sadness and beauty, and to understand the very strange state when one’s mind is close to collapse and yet at the same time more alive than ever.”
