The Workman’s Club are delighted to welcome the dynamic new partnership of VerseChorusVerse & David Lyttle to the stage on Saturday, February 20th.
The two met when Tony Wright, aka VerseChorusVerse, first visited David’s studio in Derry to collaborate earlier this year. After finding common interests in American hip-hop and the blues, their initial collaboration grew quickly into a studio album and a live project, Say & Do. Both acts have been successful in their own right: Tony, a former member of And So I Watch You From Afar, has been setting UK, Ireland and Europe alight with his solo shows. MOBO and Urban Music Award nominated drummer and producer David Lyttle’s third solo album, Faces has been described by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the best, robust listening experiences you’re likely to have all year.”
The combined talents of the dynamic new duo have created a guitar-driven percussion heavy, soulful sound. Say & Do was recorded with two microphones over a total of fourteen hours, to capture the power of the songs whilst relying on only the performance & chemistry of the two musicians, The results speak for themselves: amidst a sea of fabrication and sweeteners this is in every sense real, honest and a lot of fun.
