There has been disagreement over the location of the proposed Galway Cultural Centre. The discrepancy occurred during last night’s Galway City Council meeting, Galway By FM has reported.
The €25 million planned cultural hub is set to bring together visual arts spaces, a production space, music venue and a new library.
The initial phase of the development, which will see the centre constructed at the Dyke Rd car park, could be underway as soon as 2017.
A number of Councillors suggested other sites could be more suitable; Councillor Peter Keane suggested South Park as a more suitable location.
Despite conflicting ideas, all Councillors agreed on importance of the project.
